Shoulder Stretches Improve Function

If you sit at a desk for long periods of time, you have probably experienced some level of back pain. Many of us tend to hunch forward in our chairs, but this position can strain our back muscles and put us out of alignment. The doctors of Batson Chiropractic Group are highly skilled healers and employ a number of techniques when treating back pain, but as any chiropractic patient can tell you, the improvement you experience from treatment depends largely on you, the patient. Most chiropractic adjustments take about 15 minutes — often less than that — but your injury is still making an impact on your body when you’re not in front of a doctor.

That’s why stretching is an important adjunct to chiropractic care. Our doctors’ assistants teach our practice members how and when to use various stretching exercises to achieve a specific goal. In this video, Gayle and Danette are demonstrating the wall angel exercise, which is primarily used to strengthen back muscles and reinforce the proper curve of the spine, but wall angels can also improve range of motion.

Note: This video is not intended to diagnose any condition or to treat a recent injury. Please do not perform this exercise if you’re experiencing pain; consult a doctor about any injuries that are causing pain.
